ABBREVIATIONS

Dc = Double crochet
Dc2(3)tog = (Yoh and draw up a loop. Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) in each of next 2 (3) stitches. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook.
Dcbp = Yoh and draw up a loop around post of next stitch at back of work, inserting hook from left to right. (Yoh and draw through  2 loops on hook) twice.
Dcfp = Yoh and draw up a loop around post of next stitch at front of work, inserting hook from right to left. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice.

GAUGES
8 sc and 8 rows = 4″ [10 cm] with smaller hook and 2 strands tog. 10 sc and 11 rows = 4″ [10 cm] with smaller hook and 1 strand. 8 sc and 9 rows = 4″ [10 cm] with larger hook and 1 strand.
INSTRUCTIONS
SOLE
Note: Meeting gauge with smaller hook and 2 stands of yarn tog is crucial to ensure Sole will
measure correct size. With smaller hook and 2 strands of B tog, ch 15 (17). See diagram on page 3.

1st rnd: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 5 (7) ch. 1 hdc in each of next 2 ch. 1 dc in each of next 4 ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 4 sc in last ch. Working across opposite side of foundation ch, 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 4 ch. 1 hdc in each of next 2 ch. 1 sc in each of next 5 (7) ch. 2 sc in last ch. Join with sl st to first sc. 31 (35) sts.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 12 (14) sts. 2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. 2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 12 (14) sts. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 36 (40) sts.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 14 (16) sc. 2 sc in each of next 4 sc. 1 sc in each of next 14 (16) sc. 2 sc in each of next 3 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 44 (48) sts. Fasten off.
UPPER
With smaller hook and RS facing, join single strand of A to back loop only of first st of last
rnd of Sole.
1st rnd: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Rep
from * around. Join with B with sl st to back loop only of first sc. 55 (60) sts.
2nd rnd: With B, ch 1. Working in both loops, 1 sc in each sc around to last 1 (0) sc. 2 sc in last 1(0) sc. 56 (60) sts.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. Working in both loops, 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of next 16 (18) sc. 1 hdc in next sc. (Dc2tog) 8 times. 1 hdc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 22 (24) sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 48 (52) sts.
5th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of next 14 (16) sc. 1 hdc in next sc. (Dc2tog) 7 times. 1 hdc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 18 (20) sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 41 (45) sts.

CUFF
Change to larger hook. Cont with single strand of A, proceed as follows:
1st rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each sc around. Join with sl st to top of ch-3.
2nd rnd: Ch 2. *Dcfp around next dc. Dcbp around next dc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch-2.
3rd rnd: Ch 2. *Dcfp around next st. Dcbp around next st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch-2. Rep last rnd until Cuff measures 7″ [18 cm]. Fasten off.
