CROCHET LATTICEWORK SHOULDER BAG

What you will need: 1 skein each 1601 Lettuce A and 1321 Chocolate B
Crochet Hook: 4mm [G-6 US] and 5mm [H-8 US] Yarn needle
GAUGE: 14 sts = 4” (10 cm) in pattern; 16 rows = 4” (10 cm) in single crochet with larger hook.
CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Bag measures 12½” long and 12½” wide
x 2½” deep (32 x 32 x 6.5 cm) without
shoulder straps. Strap measures 24” long x
2¼” wide (61 x 5.5 cm)

Special Stitches
Bpsc (back post single crochet) = Insert hook from back to front and to back again around post of indicated stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on your hook.
Fptr (Front post treble crochet) = [Yarn over] twice, insert hook from front side of work to back and to front again around post of the indicated stitch; yarn over and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), [yarn over and draw
through 2 loops] 3 times.
Notes
1. Shoulder bag is made from 2 panels joined with gusset. Straps are made separately and sewn to top edges of panels.
2. Latticework is created with front and back post stitches worked around stitches in lower rows. Do not work into skipped stitches in front of or behind the post stitches until instructed.
3. In Rows 9 and 13, when working “fptr around both posts of next 2 fptr”, insert hook from front to back and front again of 2 stitches together.
4. Loosen tension as you work front post treble crochet so fabric lays flat.
5. When instructed to work into a stitch or space “4 rows below”, work into the row numbered 4 less than the current row. For example, if you are working Row 5, a stitch “4 rows below” is in Row 5 – 4 = Row 1.
6. To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Proceed with new color.
