Ideas For Having an Themed Birthday Party

Everybody loves Elmo-he is cute and cuddly, and talks like a toddler! That is why he is the perfect character for your child’s birthday theme. If you are interest in some ideas for having an Elmo themed birthday party, here are some useful tips.

• The first thing that you should think about is the invitation. You have to decorate your invitations with this popular red monster from Sesame Street. Elmo invitations are perfect for your child’s Elmo themed party. You can create do-it-yourself invitation cards with your child by drawing Elmo’s face on the outside of the invitation and let your child color the drawing. Write a message inside the invitation, something that Elmo himself would say. You can write “Elmo invites you to his friend (your child’s name)’s birthday party.” Do not forget to make it as colourful and childlike as possible.
• For the decorations, use Elmo cut outs and place them all over the room. You can also include Elmo’s friends in Sesame Street like Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Ernie and Bert, Count, Grover, Oscar, and Big Bird’s imaginary friend, Snuffy. You can use Big Bird’s foot prints to guide your guests to your house. You should use primary colors for your balloons and streamers. You can place a banner that reads “Welcome to Elmo’s World!”
• The games should also be Elmo or Sesame Street related. You can place Sesame Street or Elmo activity or coloring pages on the tables while the guests are waiting. Or you can let the children solve a floor puzzle. Another game is to let the children guess how many cookies are there in Cookie Monster’s cookie jar. During the party, you can have a Letter Game where guests can search for the birthday child’s name’s letters. You can also do a variation of Pin the Donkey’s Tail. Instead of a Donkey and a Tail, you can use Pin the Nose on Elmo or something. There are so many things that you can do.
• You can prepare Elmo or Sesame Street birthday foods like a cake with Elmo’s face on it or cookies and cupcakes with Sesame Street characters as the designs. Make everything fun and colourful. Serve cookies and sandwiches in different shapes and juice and drinks in different colors. You can use Kool Aid in different colors to make your drinks more interesting for the children. While the children are eating, you can let them watch reruns of Sesame Street or Elmo’s World.
• For the giveaways, you can create loot bags with Elmo’s face or other Sesame’s street characters on them. You can include freebies like small toys, pencils and crayons, bookmarks, key chains, coloring books, and stationeries. The kids will be elated once they see what is inside their loot bag.
