How to Make a Christmas Tree Out of a Wooden Ladder

This year instead of buying a Christmas tree, or cutting down a beautiful old tree from a tree lot in the woods, do something completely different, and totally creative. Design that old wooden ladder hanging around your house, into a Christmas tree. No, you don’t have to be skilled with modern tools, or take a hacksaw to it.

Creating a Christmas tree out of an old or new ladder will have you saying, “Why didn’t I think of this before?” You will also be exclaiming that’s totally tubular, and way out there, Dude! You will save money, and you will be able to use your Christmas tree, (I mean ladder), all year long!

Buy a wooden ladder, or get out that old one you have stored away. Assemble all of your Christmas tree decorations, and decide where to put your yet to be festive new tree.

You may want to paint your new tree green if you so desire. You can also paint your ladder, (tree), any color you want, and plan it to match or contrast with the tinsel, and ornaments. Do this before you start decorating the ladder. When you have painted your new masterpiece, you will want to store the ladder, (tree) in a safe place, away from pets, little kids, and babies.

When the drying process has taken place, position the tinsel for your color coordinated tree on the ladder. Wind it around your tree from top till bottom. You can use tacks to keep the tinsel in place, or tape it on.

Next, place the ornaments you want on your new tree. Decorate it with favorite ornaments your family loves, or more traditional ones handed down from generation to generation.

Get jiggy with it. Explore your creative genius! Utilize those ladder steps to your benefit. Place pictures on the steps. Lovingly adorn the Christmas tree with ornaments that are small or large, all the same or are all different. You can create a theme tree of your favorite location, or sports team,or your best vacation, or cast red, pink and purple hats on your tree.

Top off your new tree with a star on the top step, or perhaps a large ornament for your seriously creative tree. Place a tree skirt at the very bottom of the new wooden tree, making it the centerpiece of your Christmas decorations.

Go for it! Create the Christmas tree of your dreams by using a wooden ladder for the center of attraction. Have fun with it, allowing your inner genius to shine through.
