Add A Garden Pond And Water Feature To Your Yard

Setting up a water feature is a great and easy way to bring a relaxing atmosphere to your backyard. All you need is a small water feature pump with a water fountain, a small preformed plastic pond liner or heavy tarp, sand, large rocks, and accessories.

The ideal location for your water feature is near a patio and close to an electrical outlet. Select an area with level ground, then remove any weeds or plants that grow there.

Once the location of your patio pond is chosen, measure the preformed plastic pond liner, or if you are not using one, decide on the shape of your pond. Then, begin digging. If you are using a preformed plastic pond liner, make sure it will fit tightly into the hole. Next, place the liner, or tarp, into the ground and pour about an inch of sand around the edge to finish it off. Finally, place large, decorative rocks around the edges of your new pond for that tranquil, aesthetic appeal.

Fill your garden pond with water, then submerge the water pump, leaving out the cord. Plug the cord into a power source, and watch your water fountain begin to beautifully spout water. For a decorative touch, add water lilies and other plants to float in your pond. Statues and other outdoor accessories also look great around your garden pond. To create the feel of a real pond, add some large goldfish in the water and watch them enjoy your garden pond as much as you do.
